CHANGE MY MIND - WEEK 7

The things you need most in life, require participation with God.

1 Peter 5:6-7 says to “cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Psalm 62:8 says to “…pour out your heart before him, God is a refuge for us all.”

Our high places are the places we run when we don’t feel secure.

Pain was always meant to be information, not our meditation.

B.L.A.S.T Boredom, Loneliness, Anxiety, Stress, and Tiredness

Pain tells us when something is wrong.

Physical Pain tells me that something is wrong with my body.

Emotional pain tells me something is wrong with my soul.

Your place of recovery is in the place of your pain.

Philippians 4:4-7 “Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

An Exchange has to be Made.

“…where sin fractures what we build, fractures our systems, fractures everything seen and unseen, when we get pulled back into the life of God through salvation, he reorders us to participate in our original purpose which is to push back darkness, establish order and light for the flourishing of humanity.

- James Davidson Hunter.

Altars of remembrance are a symbol of God’s faithfulness in the midst of the wilderness, change, and transition.

Where is God wanting His name to be remembered in your life?

Devotion to Jesus addresses the issue and propels you forward in your true identity and purpose.

Distractions will only keep you from ever getting out of the sick cycle you’re in.

1)  God _______________.

Job 33:13-17 So why are you bringing a charge against him? Why say he does not respond to people’s complaints? For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings. He makes them turn from doing wrong; he keeps them from pride. (NLT)

Isaiah 55:3 “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. (NLT)

2)  You can _________ God’s will.

Ephesians 5:17 Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the will of the Lord is. (ESV)

3)  If you want to _________ the _______________will of God ______ the _______________ will of God.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise…not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. NKJV

1 Peter 2:13a, 15 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men…For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. (NIV)

1 Thessalonians 4:3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; (NIV)

1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (ESV)

4)  Let the Spirit of God _________ your mind.

Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (NLT)

5)  Always remember you’re not ______________.

1 Samuel 23:1-5 One day news came to David that the Philistines were at Keilah stealing grain from the threshing floors. David asked the Lord, “Should I go and attack them?” “Yes, go and save Keilah,” the Lord told him. But David’s men said, “We’re afraid even here in Judah. We certainly don’t want to go to Keilah to fight the whole Philistine army!”So David asked the Lord again, and again the Lord replied, “Go down to Keilah, for I will help you conquer the Philistines.”

So David and his men went to Keilah. They slaughtered the Philistines and took all their livestock and rescued the people of Keilah. (NLT)

6)  In ________________ seek God’s will.

1 Samuel 23:9a -12 But David learned of Saul’s plan... 10 Then David prayed, “O Lord, God of Israel, I have heard that Saul is planning to come and destroy Keilah because I am here. 11 Will the leaders of Keilah betray me to him? And will Saul actually come as I have heard? O Lord, God of Israel, please tell me.”

And the Lord said, “He will come.” 12 Again David asked, “Will the leaders of Keilah betray me and my men to Saul?” And the Lord replied, “Yes, they will betray you.” (NLT)

1 Samuel 30:1-4 Three days later, when David and his men arrived home at their town of Ziklag, they found that the Amalekites had made a raid into the Negev and Ziklag; they had crushed Ziklag and burned it to the ground. They had carried off the women and children and everyone else but without killing anyone.

When David and his men saw the ruins and realized what had happened to their families, they wept until they could weep no more. (NLT)

1 Samuel 30:8 Then David asked the Lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?”

And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!” (NLT)

2 Samuel 2:1 After this, David asked the Lord, “Should I move back to one of the towns of Judah?” “Yes,” the Lord replied. Then David asked, “Which town should I go to?” “To Hebron,” the Lord answered. (NLT)

2 Samuel 5:17-20 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king of Israel, they mobilized all their forces to capture him. But David was told they were coming, so he went into the stronghold. 18 The Philistines arrived and spread out across the valley of Rephaim. 19 So David asked the Lord, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The Lord replied to David, “Yes, go ahead. I will certainly hand them over to you.” 20 So David went to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. “The Lord did it!” David exclaimed. “He burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So he named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”).

2 Samuel 5:22-25 But after a while the Philistines returned and again spread out across the valley of Rephaim. 23 And again David asked the Lord what to do. 22 But after a while the Philistines returned and again spread out across the valley of Rephaim. 23 And again David asked the Lord what to do. “Do not attack them straight on,” the Lord replied. “Instead, circle around behind and attack them near the poplar trees. 24 When you hear a sound like marching feet in the tops of the poplar trees, be on the alert! That will be the signal that the Lord is moving ahead of you to strike down the Philistine army.” 25 So David did what the Lord commanded, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.

7)  If you don’t feel a _____________, don’t do it.

Philippians 4:6-7a Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace… (NLT)

John 8:32-41 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?” 34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.” 39 “Abraham is our father,” they answered. “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would do what Abraham did. 40 As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 41 You are doing the works of your own father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.

Renew Your Mind

Romans

12:1-2

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mindThen you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Transformation happens when you’re connected

Matthew 3:1-2

In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Matthew 3:17

And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

God will always give you the Truth before the test

Matthew 4:1-11

1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. 2 For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. 3 During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, 6 and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect you. And they will

hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’” 7 Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’” 8 Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 “I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.” 10 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” 11 Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus.
